I am entrepreneur because creating value and bringing it to the world has always been my dream!
My Story
Intro
With an increasingly mobile and locally dispersed workforce efficient online cooperation among employees becomes more and more crucial. And with low start- up cost this segment is a great place to start a new business. Ming tapped right into this market by launching a social web service in Singapore.
About Me
I am Ming from Singapore and I founded Socialwok, a leading enterprise social web service that is built on top of Google Apps. I graduated with a bachelors of engineering (Applied Physics) from Cornell University and a M.S from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
I have always wanted to make a big impact on the world. I took a hard look at my options vis-a-viz my personal profile, abilities and the how the world is progressing, and felt that coming out on my own doing a tech start-up offers a pretty good ROI on my life at this point. I was able to at my younger age take higher risk, with lower burden and obligations. In addition, there is a rapid explosion of innovation and opportunities with the internet and social media that I felt that its kind of now or never.
I enjoy running, golf and swimming. I am passionate about building early stage technology companies with focus areas of open source enterprise software/services and social media.
My Venture
Socialwok is a feed based group collaboration service for Google Apps that helps Google Apps users to share different Socialwok components like Google Calendar, Google Docs using a feed based format.
We observed that there is a large population of 18 million Google Apps users who are yearning for a social layer to integrate the different Socialwok components like Google Calendar, Google Docs and etc.
For the next 6-12 months, Socialwok is focused on executing on our freemium model. We are fanatical about growing our free user base of small medium businesses. It is crucial for us to find and simplify the “hooks”; what are the key features that our users use Socialwok for? Once we are comfortable with the free user growth trajectory, we will focus on rolling out and tweaking our paid subscription packages to address the conversion pain points of our free user base
