I am an entrepreneur because I always wanted to contribute for the betterment of my community with fewer bureaucratic formalities.

My Story

Intro

Without innovativeness and thinking out of the box one can’t engage young people for a very long time because young people always love to explore new things and explore novel ideas irrespective of the results. Rana is implemention those engaging and exciting Humar Rights activities with and for young people in Pakistan since 1997.

About Me

I started working for various noble causes back in 1991 when I was just 11 and my father suddenly passed away due to kidney failure. My first initiative was an awareness campaign in my school about the consequences of diabetes on physical health and I still remember that we used to design and draw handwritten flyers about harms of diabetes. We than distributed them to parents who came to pick up their children from school and believe me that the satisfaction and bliss I enjoyed during this very informal and unplanned campaign is still missing in my life.

During that campaign I also joined a local students organizations and I started my internship for a renowned human rights organization of Pakistan. This helped me in networking with other likeminded young people who ultimately paved the way of establishing the Youth Alliance for Human Rights.

In my free time I love reading books, driving and hanging out with my friends.

My Venture

I founded the Youth Alliance for Human Rights back in 1997 with a group of some other dynamic youth leaders as an informal casual youth network for young people of my Pakistan. Youth Alliance for Human Rights (YAFHR) is now one of the largest not-for-profit youth organizations to target youth in Pakistan.

The Youth Alliance for Human Rights works towards transforming young people from by-standers to stakeholders fully participating in their own development. All of our programs focus on empowering youth to initiate, advocate and cultivate change within their own communities.

We focus on programs that promotes young people’s rights with respect to education, gender equity, employment and other important issues. I ideally want the youth of Pakistan to benefit from my venture in a manner that is not only supportive for them at individual level, but also further cascades the benefits to their communities and sparks a wider community development.
