I am an entrepreneur because each day is an adventure and it was the easiest way to get a head start in my career.

My Story

Intro

"Property business in India is generally perceived to be a murky one. The image of the players is one associated with flashy cars, smooth talking, dream weaving, and generous waving of hands to offer a free view of gold and precious stones on their person. Biju does n't fit the picture at all, and yet he is revolutionizing the property business in India." -  The Hindu Business Line

About Me

I am 26 years old and I am from Chennai, India.  I have a Masters degree in Information Systems Management from the Heinz School, Carnegie Mellon University.  Prior to my Masters’ Program, I was with HCL Technologies for 2 years as a Software developer.  And before that, I got my Bachelors’ in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Madras.  That’s my last 10 years, described in 3 sentences.  I really didn’t want my next 10 years to be described the same way, which is partly why I started Metroplots.

The idea of entrepreneurship struck me very late primarily because I was not exposed to the concept 6 years back, when I finished my Bachelors.  I assumed, like most of my classmates did, that seeking a job and earning a fat paycheck was the way of life.  I came out of it very soon thanks to the exposure provided by the faculty of Donald H. Jones Centre for Entrepreneurship at Tepper, Carnegie Mellon University.  I listened to speeches and presentations made by a bunch of successful entrepreneurs at school.  They were all explaining about the hardships they went through and how proud they are of being associated to a brand they created. I knew it right than that I wanted to be like them.

For 2 years of my Masters’ program at CMU, we were given many case studies to solve.  More than the solution, I enjoyed the process of coming up with one after multiple brainstorming sessions with the team.  That’s when I realized my passion was to solve problems in industries that I have a fair knowledge about.  I had to start somewhere and I picked Real Estate because it was one of the most non-transparent and messed up industries in India.  There were problem statements in every aspect of Real Estate in India, which gave Metroplots a huge opportunity.

My hobbies include strumming the guitar (not necessarily with a musical outcome), driving at night & pretending to like reading books (mostly end up reading only the summary of each chapter).  I listen to a lot of music but I keep bouncing back to the 80’s.  I have enjoyed adventure sports from the few that I have tried, namely Sky diving, Rafting, Skiing and Snorkeling, and definitely looking forward to trying out more.   I also enjoy watching stand-up comedies.  My role models are Manmohan Singh, Abdul Kalam, Shashi Tharoor, Sachin Tendulkar, Warren Buffett, Muhammad Ali, Michael Schumacher & Tiger Woods.

My Venture

Like most developing countries, the Real Estate industry in India is a vast & disorganized terrain, which gives a lot of opportunities in different services. If one has to purchase a property, he/she will be availing services from multiple builders/developers, agents, banks and lawyers.  Metroplots’ business model intends to make this process simple for a property buyer by having just one point of contact for the entire life cycle.

We have an efficient website and a strong network which drives our clientele.  The very fact that everything’s available under one roof, makes us trustworthy and highly transparent.  We work with corporate clients and developers by becoming their official property partner.  We offer the following services to our clients:

  • Seeking properties matching Client’s requirement,
  • Document verification,
  • Site visits and presentations,
  • Registration and preparing legal documents,
  • Furnishing the interiors for making it ready-to-use.
As property seekers and property buyers, a lot of information that one needs to know is inaccessible.  Through the website and our Customer support, we intend to bring it out in the open and make possible a transparent and clean transaction.
