I am an entrepreneur because it is the straight path towards my dreams. I want to achieve them and then encourage my people to achieve theirs'.

My Story

Intro

Building companies requires risk apatite and a culture of innovation. To build a culture of innovation and high risk taking ability, entrepreneurs should be connected to fellow entrepreneurs and all other members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem like early adopters, mentors, serial entrepreneurs, investors, academicians, technologists etc. Amit is developing this entrepreneurial ecosystem in India.

About Me

Hi, I am Amit Singh. I am from Bangalore, India.

I became an entrepreneur because that was the easiest way towards fulfilling the dreams that I have for myself, my loved ones, my country and the world. I am a big picture guy. I have seen a fair share of success and failure so far and I aspire to build products that positively impact the lives of millions of people worldwide. So far I have started two businesses and have co-founded a not-for-profit organisation called HeadStart Foundation. HeadStart promotes entrepreneurship in India, typically assisting aspiring and early stage entrepreneurs. My first venture provided political campaigning solutions over TV, Mobile and the Internet. In the second one, we built a device that enables farmers to operate their motor pumps using their mobile phones, making their lives easier while saving electricity and water.

My Venture

HeadStart Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that promotes entrepreneurship among the grassroots of the Indian innovation ecosystem. While our intention is to see more world class product companies coming out of India, we realise that its a lofty goal and we need to take care of finer issues first. For the first few years we have decided to focus on connecting people. This has led to the genesis of the now popular "Startup Saturdays" that are networking meets conducted on the Second Saturday of every month across Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata. We also do biannual events that showcase some of the most innovative startups of the country.

We recently launched an Incubator at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and once we have learnt the nuances of running an incubator, we want to take it to several colleges around India. We launched a "Startup Industry Co Innovation Platform" to encourage collaboration between large organizations and startups. We are currently building an online collaboration platform that would bring entrepreneurs, mentors, customers, early adopters, investors, technocrats, academicians and other members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem together to encourage experience sharing, mentoring and collaboration.
