I am an entrepreneur because its gives me opportunities to 1) create value for the organization and our customers the way I have learned it to be most beneficial, 2) create jobs for people they hopefully love and 3) create wealth for all the stakeholders including myself.

My Story

Intro

For some people only employment with multinational well-know companies counts as an achievements and running a small successful business wouldn’t count as even close to to the prestige that comes with those jobs. Others, like Ashish, follow their passion even if that means swimming against the current.

About Me

I am a technologist by education and an entrepreneur by profession, and reside in New Delhi, India. I come from a family where a job with a known brand has always been more glamorous than running a small business. I have always been fascinated with people creating large businesses, which become independent of the people who started the same. After finishing my education in computer engineering from IIT Kanpur in India, I went to work with Microsoft in the US thinking well that I will come back and start something out of India. The first non-traditional step I took was when I indeed decided to come back to India to start a company with 2 other friends, and that has started which promises to be a long and interesting journey ahead.

I am very passionate about the role of small groups in creating innovative and practical solutions touching upon a niche but growing market. Building a solution that has the potential to be adopted in mainstream population has excited me the most. I also like a de-centralized approach to finding and implementing solutions.

I became an entrepreneur because I was impatient to make an attempt in making louder impact in the world very quickly. I was also intrigued to know how is it to create a self-sustainable company which can survive and grow on its own after applying the right processes and methods.

Personally, I have been an avid sports person and was very active with it before embarking on this interesting journey. The last few years have forced me to re-think the priorities but I remain interested and passionate about it. Thinking about other potential business and talking to people to know more about it also stands very high in my priority list.

My Venture

The first business we started was Tekriti Software - a software solutions / services company which provides solutions in Web 2.0 and social media. We provide tools and custom software development services to build social media solutions for various industries. Our services / products can be segmented into 3 categories: 1) product development in social media across devices (web / iPhone / blackberry) 2) web portal development solutions 3) technical resource augmentation

Another area that we have ventured out into is co-starting other companies that have the potential to become market leaders in their area and maintain a separate management team to take it forward. We are already invested in 2 other companies, Travel Boutique Online and USourceIT. Travel Boutique is a B2B Travel Portal company focused primarily in India and USourceIT is a B2B IT outsourcing marketplace for small to medium businesses.

We plan to follow a 2-pronged approach to growing our company: the first will be to grow Tekriti Software in the industry it is, and the 2nd will be to create more joint ventures / partner companies in an area which has the right potential. We do invest in finding these joint ventures or partner companies.
