"I became an entrepreneur because I want to open opportunities for village communities by encouraging responsible tourism."
My Story
Intro
One of the greatest challenges facing India as with all of the developing and poor countries is is a lack of opportunities. This lack of opportunities leads to a lot of problems some symptoms include the MNS attacks on Non Maharastrians or for that matter the insurgency issues we have in most of the North East, or with the naxal movement in India. The issue is that the opportunities to live a life and provide for a family are rare if non-existent in most parts of rural India by the way India still lives in her villages. Pinir is opening opportunities for village communities by encouraging responsible tourism. .
About Me
I’ve been born and brought up as a city boy in a middle class family, having lived most of my life in the city of Bombay. As far as I could recall, I’ve always been held as the ‘responsible’ & ‘sensible’ person, from kindergarden, thru school and college; from teachers, fellow students, friends and their parents. I’ve had a very normal upbringing, a great loving and supporting family & parents who always provided for us. My family, especially my parents, I believe have provided me the platform, inspiration, energy and encouragement to endeavor differently. I remember my father being involved with various social causes and my mother being always giving, irrespective to whom always giving. After joining college I began working actively in various youth forums, since than I’ve always drawn a lot of strength from the energy of youth and finding various means of channeling their raw energy has since become a mission.
Inspiration and philosophy: the two most powerful forces of life are Love and Hope. Being born and brought up in a developing country. I’ve borne witness to this fact all the days of my life. “if you endeavour with the truest intent.. the universe unveils to fulfill your dreams” I’m a great believer in dreams and the power of dreams. Wherever and when I get the opportunity I encourage people to dream. Favourite Books: My experiments with truth: By MK Gandhi, a long walk to freedom by Nelson Mandela,My Venture

The Greatest challenge facing India as with all of the developing and poor countries is there is a lack of opportunities. This lack of opportunities leads to a lot of problems some symptoms include the MNS attacks on Non Maharastrians or for that matter the insurgency issues we have in most of the North East, or with the naxal movement in India. We are all sane people, who would love to live a life, and provide for our families. The issue is that the opportunities for me to live a life and provide for my family are rare if non-existent in most parts of rural India by the way India still lives in her villages. Because of lack of opportunities, the youth or people are easily motivated when someone comes along accusing or blaming another for the lack of opportunities.
We’ve selected responsible rural tourism as a means of creating sustainable opportunities due to tourism the world over has been the greatest multipliers of economic development. Further tourism requires relatively lesser investments in setting up tourism also provides platforms of exchange, exchange of thought and understanding. However tourism has also been the greatest exploiter of local communities. The medium of responsible rural tourism, where in the local communities are at the centre of the entire process ensures the benefits of tourism at the same time minimizing the ill effects of tourism. Our vision is to build a network of 200 village tourism destinations across India which are owned, managed and run by local village communities.
